Scratch NERDS!!!

GONNA KEEP THIS SHORT AND SWEET!!!

let’s start at the end of 2001…

KLEVER & CRAZE wanted to put out a scratch CD, showing the world their production skills and some cutt’s!  At the time, there weren’t really many scratch CDs out. Of course, there were countless kids cutting over beats and putting them out… but that’s all they were, practice tapes.

What WE wanted to do is produce an adventure for the listener.

We where mainly influenced by two tapes: one Q-Bert had made back in 94′ called Demolition Pumpkin Squeeze Musik and, around the end of 2000,  there was this dude from LA, who went by ALIAS,  that put out another pretty inspirational tape.

I went down and stayed with Craze, in Miami, for about a week’s time.  We started the project on his ADAT and got about 20 Mins worth done before I had to go! Right around the time I left, he upgraded to Logic.  A couple months passed before I ended back up at Craze’s.  This time, the work flow was a lot better because of the tracking format.  It took us a while to complete cuz of our touring schedules, but at the end of 2002 we finally finished the tape…

Enjoy!

Ouuu Wueeee!!!

Hey ya’ll, Louie here! I finally had some time to kick back and relax after a crazy weekend in NYC! Special thanks to Girls and Boys and Webster Hall for hosting us for the first ever Slow Roast NYC party! We all had an amazing time rockin’ with Craze and 12th Planet and The Captian and Star Eyes from the Trouble and Bass camp! Was also really nice to finally cool out with our label designer extraordinaire Jen Lu ( and my personal designer!). As an added bonus, saw my homie A-Trak, and finally got to meet Dave-1, I’m a huge Chromeo fan! Wuuueeee!! I had a blast, the team killed it, and it was really nice to make a lot of New York friends! On a side note, to all my New York homies, don’t forget to check out Kill The Noise at Flashing Lights on May 14th. Who knows maybe I’ll even make another appearance ;) Anyway, I’m gonna get back to relaxin’, in the meantime check out the pics from the show!

Check the photos from The Culture of Me, and Nicky Digital Thanks guys!

Coachella 2010

Wuueeee!!

It’s me Louie! It’s been a busy coupla weeks but I finally found some time to write about my trip to Coachella with the Slow Roast fam! I can’t put into words how much fun I had! It was a great honor to rock the stage with Craze, Klever and special guests, Yelawolf and Donnis! We all definitely fed off the energy at the Sahara stage on Saturday! Huge thanks to all ya’ll that packed in there to go hog wild with us! Highlights of the festival for me was the free food in the artist area of course Wueeeee! Besides that, Gorillaz closing out the festival was a real inspiration! Die Antworrd was pure rave, it was really awesome to meet them! I think I have a crush on Yo-Landi Vi$$er wueeeeeeee!! Aside from that, it was my first time seeing Yelawolf perform live and we were all really blown away with his performance. Halleratch-wueeeeee!! We consider Yela and the Ghet-o-vision crew part of the extended family fo’ sho! Anyway, enough squealin’ from me for now, check out this video! Special thanks to  Media Contender, and Rob Wonder for supplyin us with video! Big thanks to Dnyce for hookin’ us up with pictures! I’m really excited for a summer full of festivals! It’s gonna be amazing! See ya’ll soon!

It’s the Re-Birth of Rebirth!

Am I suprised, no. The only thing that sucks about this, is that I don’t have a fucking iPhone. We won’t get into that though…

Anyway, as I was saying, it’s no surprise to me that when you put two great companies together, Propellerheads (creators of Reason, and Rebirth etc.) and Macintosh, you get something fun to use that actually works properly. You may remember or still use the now discontinued TB 303 software model, Rebirth. For those who missed this gem it’s become a free download over at the Rebirth Museum. I remember messin’ around with that thing almost 10 years ago, it’s crazy how time flies! Well now you can twist some virtual knobs on the go. Check out this video with the legendary Peff explaining how this thing works, it’s fucking cool! Long live ReBirth!
